  19. I'm not sure if this might be of help but I have a Compaq 425 and 
  20. recently upgraded my 2400 built-in modem to a Cardinal 28,800.  called 
  21. Compaq's 900 number (screw them for charging me for help!!!!) and was 
  22. told to go into my C-MOS and disable my serial port (note: there is two 
  23. lines in there-one for a modem and one for the port).  After disabling 
  24. the two lines (not deleating!) the Cardinal worked fine after I installed 
  25. a new I/O card (the 425 had a 8250 UART).  Don't know enough to say if 
  26. this might help but that's what I had to do.
